ELECTRONICS SYSTEMS ENGINEER

Oxford Product Design (OPD) is an exciting and growing product design consultancy that creates exciting and original new designs and technologies by blending our skills of design, electronics, software, mechanics and engineering know-how. We work with clients ranging from household names through to entrepreneurs that have had that lightbulb idea. Based in Jericho, Oxford we’re a ten-minute walk from the bus and train station.

JOB ROLE REQUIREMENTS
  • Electronics system design and test experience, ideally gained in a consultancy environment
  • The ability to read and understand existing schematics and create new electronics designs independently
  • The ability to design and develop firmware in C for microcontrollers
  • The skills to de-bug both hardware and software systems
  • The ability to work in project teams and communicate effectively at all levels

Your experience should include many of the following areas:

  • Microcontrollers: including ARM Cortex
  • Wireless communication interfaces: Bluetooth, WiFi, Cellular…
  • Wired communication interfaces: Ethernet, USB, RS485…
  • Electro optics: Cameras, LEDs, LCD…
  • Power supply: Battery powered systems and line powered systems
  • Actuators: Motor control, solenoids and robotics
  • Sensors: Position, temperature, flow, pressures…
  • Design for EMC immunity and low emissions
  • Simulation: System and circuit level
  • Production test system development

JOB ROLE TASKS
  • Develop schematic designs, perform layout and verification testing of PCBs
  • Development of firmware for new hardware designs
  • Lead system integration
  • Work as part of the design team to develop new product design concepts and specification
  • Undertake teardown analysis of existing products
  • Support CE and FCC compliance testing, ensuring all documentation is correct

LOCATION
  • Primarily based in Oxford, UK
  • Prepared to travel and work on-site as and when required
  • Possibility of very occasional overseas travel (with prior agreement)
