OPD -redesigned the syringe pump for use in a variety of medical situations to provide highly accurate fluid dispensing/aspiration, with a 10nl resolution, and continuous flow for up to 3 days.

The requirement for this project was to cost down and design for manufacture a prototype based around a super-accurate linear stage.

The critical challenge of which was tolerancing the syringe mounting components so they moved perfectly in-line with the stage and be capable of achieving the accuracy required.

OPD successfully managed to reduce the cost of the design to approximately 15% of the original design per unit when manufactured in small batches.
