Oxford Cyrosystems are market leaders in cryogenic equipment. OPD took one of their successful products, renowned for its reliability, and refreshed the design to incorporate a new aesthetic and increased usability.
Any changes that were made to the existing design needed to not impact reliability or performance. An opportunity to create a new direction for Cryosystems’ brand embodiment extended to the user interface. Some of the main challenges were around giving the product this unique aesthetic, but also making it easy to service, maintain, and fit with the existing production methods and supply chain.
A cool new aesthetic was developed with a strong brand identity that employed new colours and an LED halo – a feature that required optical simulation on the lightpipe design to ensure even illumination.
