Client
LabLogic commissioned OPD to design a next generation radio-TLC scanner specifically due to our proven Design for Manufacture (DfM) capability.
Create a superior usage experience, considering all touch points. Simultaneously, define an embodiment of a new brand language, with a premium aesthetic, to be used across the entire future product line.
Defining a new architecture was key to the success of our new design. We engineered a new main drive mechanism and height-adjustable sensor. This allowed both a lower height and reduced footprint, saving precious lab space.
All components are attached to the thick baseplate, which is made from glass so it can be back-printed and lit.
Both the glass baseplate and the solvent-proof, capacitive touchscreen are easy to wipe clean. The readers are modular and the sample holder conveniently and accurately self-aligns using magnets.
Our initial concept sketches were remarkably similar to the final design, demonstrating how manufacturability was baked in from the very outset.
Performance
The Scan-RAM 2 builds upon the reliability and success of its predecessor, ensuring precise and reproducible results for radiochemical purity measurements (RCP) and more.
The new smart detectors provide improved performance and usability compared to traditional PMT detectors. Faster and simpler than ever before, they feature a quick change mechanism and are equipped with Peltier temperature control for enhanced stability and consistency.
Compliance
The flush, toughened glass surface is easy to clean for effective contamination control. The magnetic TLC plates are easily cleaned, conveniently stored, and ideal for lowering finger exposure.
The cableless detectors are automatically recognised. An LED strip changes colour to match that of the detector in use, enabling quick and easy identification. They retrieve their operating parameters from Laura software, ensuring true data integrity and GLP compliance.
Flexibility
The range consists of five options for a wide range of nuclear medicine applications, allowing speed, maximum count rates and scanning time to be easily configured.
The new compact design occupies less bench space, enabling greater flexibility and workflow efficiency by maximising available space in the lab.
