Seminar: Creating better vision
This month, OPD’s Senior Design Consultant Tom Malloy will be speaking at the Chartered Institute of Ergonomics & Human Factors Wearable Technology seminar.
The free seminar, delivered by webinar, will explore how ergonomics is influencing the design and use of wearable technology to help augment human capability and performance. It will consist of two presentations and a curated Q&A session ed by Dr Chris Ramsden, CIEHF’s President Elect.
It’s estimated that over a billion people across the globe experience some form of visual impairment that’s significant enough to impact daily life. Specialist technology can enhance vision for many with impairments such as myopic degeneration, glaucoma and retinitis pigmentosa. But incorporating this technology into wearable devices brings many challenges.
In his presentation, Tom will share the work we did with OXSIGHT to create their smart glasses product, Prism. He’ll talk through some of the real-life challenges we faced in designing this product for the head and face, and will share how human factors engineering helped us to overcome these challenges.
The event takes place 20 May from 5-6:45 pm.
